Light of ChristParvuli Dei

For the first time ever there will be an event for Catholic Cub Scouts, Webelos Scouts, Cub leaders, and Cub parents held in our Diocese of Allentown. This day of faith and fun will be Saturday, April 22, 2023 and will be held at Settlers Camp at Trexler Scout Reservation. The Cubs and Webelos will participate in age-appropriate and fun activities focusing on God, Family, and Community.

The Cub Scouts will also have the opportunity to work on some of the requirements for the Light of Christ or Parvuli Dei religious awards. The Light of Christ Award is for Tiger and Wolf Cubs. The Parvuli Dei Award is for Bear Cubs and Webelos. Both awards are structured so that the Cub works with his or her parent to complete the requirements. Every Cub will make an American flag neckerchief slide and receive a beautiful patch.

The day will start with check-in from 8:30 to 9:00 am. The morning will be filled with fun activities along with games and mid-morning snack. Before a delicious lunch there will be a Rosary walk. After lunch and songs, the activities will then resume. In one session the Cubs will use beads to make a colorful neckerchief slide in the form of the American flag, which is theirs to keep. In another they will tackle some of the requirements for the religious awards. There will also be a session in which the Cubs will make snack bags for delivery to local homeless shelters. Participants are encouraged to donate single serving, non-perishable snacks to make up the snack bags. At 3:00 pm the event will conclude with the closing ceremony and presentation of patches.
